Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Location: Cape Town – Paarl

Salary: R12,000 R13,500 per month


About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Quality Control Technician to join our team from 1 June. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining food safety, quality standards, and compliance within the production facility. This role is critical in ensuring all products are manufactured safely, meet specifications, and comply with legal and audit requirements.


Main Duties

Quality Control & Facility Inspections

  • Conduct daily inspections and checks of the production facility, identifying and reporting any deviations.
  • Perform regular plant hygiene inspections and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Verify in-line quality control (QC) checks to maintain consistent product standards.
  • Ensure all required quality checks are completed and properly recorded.

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure the facility complies at all times with relevant food safety standards and audit requirements.
  • Take responsibility for quality and legislative compliance of all products produced within the facility.
  • Raise non-conformances (internal and customer complaints) related to system deviations or unsafe products.
  • Investigate root causes and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Coordinate and monitor corrective and preventative action (CAPA) systems.

Product Quality & Operations

  • Ensure all products meet product specifications and customer quality expectations.
  • Ensure staff follow company procedures, practices, and hygiene requirements.
  • Verify that warehousing complies with correct storage and handling conditions.
  • Investigate product quality issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.

Training & Support

  • Train employees on quality standards, food safety requirements, and best practices.
  • Provide clear communication and guidance to production and warehouse teams.
  • Perform ad hoc quality-related tasks as required by operational needs.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Relevant Quality, Food Safety, or similar qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a Quality Control role within a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English.
  • Valid drivers license and own transport.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Good to Have

  • Internal Auditing course or certification.
  • Experience handling customer complaints and audit preparation.
  • Strong understanding of food safety systems and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple quality-related tasks under pressure.
